Crypto Portal Tutorial

The new WeStreet Crypto Portal is an optional, easy way for members to buy, sell, and hold cryptocurrency. Learn how to set up and use the portal below.

How To Get Started With The Crypto Portal

1. Review the education information to get you started on your cryptocurrency journey.

2. After reviewing the educational information, you will be prompted to review our Crypto Terms & Conditions.

3. Once you’ve agreed to the Terms & Conditions, we’ll complete what’s called the KYC (Know Your Customer) process of verifying your identity and personal information.

4. You are all set once you’ve done this and agreed to our terms and conditions! You don’t have to do things like upload your ID, take a picture of yourself, or do other things that other platforms make you do. We already know who you are & trust you!

How To Buy

Click on the “Invest” button

Click “Buy” or “Trade” next to the coin you want to buy

Click “Buy” again to begin your purchase

Designate which Direct Deposit Account you would like to make the purchase from (e.g., checking or savings)

Enter how much cryptocurrency you want to purchase (you may enter this in USD or in the cryptocurrency value)

Click “Preview Buy”

You will be taken to a confirmation screen displaying the transaction fee and the net amount of digital assets you will receive. Click “Confirm.”

If you are prompted for a Secure Access Code, be sure to complete this step.

Congrats! Your order is complete; your account will be debited, and your digital asset account will be credited with the corresponding amount of the purchase in near real-time.

How To Sell

Note: You may only sell coins that you are currently holding


Click “Trade” under the available coins.


Review the transaction screen.

Select which coin you’d like to sell.

Select the amount you’d like to sell and the account to which you’d like the funds deposited.


Preview your transaction before completion.

Congrats! Your order is complete; your account will be credited, and your digital asset account will be debited with the corresponding purchase amount in near real-time.

How do I view my balance?

Your cryptocurrency balance can be viewed on your mobile banking dashboard by clicking “More” and then by clicking the crypto button at the top. On a desktop, click the Crypto tab on your online banking dashboard.” to stay consistent. 

I accidentally placed a trade. Am I able to get a refund?

No. Because trades are near instantaneous and irreversible, trades cannot be refunded. For more information, please review the Terms and Conditions.

How do I buy/sell/hold crypto at WeStreet?

Simply enroll in a crypto account and accept the terms and conditions. Once your account is set up, you can select your coin type, how much you want to purchase or sell, designate which account you want debited/credited, and confirm.

Where can I see prices for the cryptocurrencies available?

Current market prices for the available cryptocurrencies are shown on both the main Crypto Home screen and your Portfolio screen. Prices are updated every 5 seconds.

Can anyone buy/sell/hold cryptocurrency through the Credit Union?

Only members over the age of 18 and in good standing with the WeStreetl Credit Union can buy/sell/hold cryptocurrency. At this time, residents of the states of NV, SD, ND, GA, LA, NC, SC, NY, OH, and CT are not permitted to buy/sell/hold cryptocurrency through this credit union. Commercial accounts may not be used.

How do I access my funds?

Your cryptocurrency can be accessed from your mobile banking dashboard by clicking “More” and then by clicking the crypto button at the top. On a desktop, click the Crypto tab on your online banking dashboard.

After creating my account, do I need to set anything else up?

When you created your account with WeStreet, we completed what’s called the KYC (Know Your Customer) process of verifying your identity and personal information.

Which coins are available to purchase?

The coins available to purchase are visible to you on the Portfolio screen. Learn more about the types of cryptocurrency coins here.

Can I buy/sell my crypto at any time?

You can place a Buy or Sell order at any time, though there may be occasions when scheduled maintenance occurs. During these maintenance windows, crypto Buy and Sell orders will be temporarily unavailable. A message will appear at the top of the order screen notifying you of the time and date of these maintenance windows. 

Can I transfer crypto in and out of my account?

No. The two most important goals for us in offering cryptocurrency is to make it as easy and safe to buy, sell and hold cryptocurrency as possible.

In order to meet both of those goals (ease and safety), for a variety of security and regulatory reasons, you cannot send cryptocurrency outside of the financial institution.

Can I use my crypto to make purchases?

Currently, we only provide the ability to buy, sell, and hold cryptocurrency through WeStreet, with no ability to pay or transfer out.

That being said, we cannot offer financial advice or reverse or modify any transaction already completed.

How do I find more information on coins?

You can view more information about coins by clicking on the Explore Coins button at the bottom of your digital asset account homepage.

Why was the exchange rate that my order was fulfilled at different from the exchange rate I saw before buying/selling?

Cryptocurrency markets are open 24/7/365, and prices change by the second. Depending on how long you took to confirm the trade, the price may have changed slightly based on the latest market prices.

Are my crypto holdings with WeStreet taxable?

During the period you are holding crypto, it is not taxable – it is only taxable if you turn a profit when selling it, at which point it is taxed as income.

You will receive a tax-optimized 1099 accessible through your digital banking platform when this happens.
